Domaine des Claus

Julien Bertaina, hailing from the southern region of France, pursued studies in logistics before heading into the corporate world. It was in 2008 that he made the decision to return to his roots and assume his father’s winemaking legacy. Following his father’s retirement in 2011, Julien took sole charge of the family enterprise, dedicating himself to steering its course. Since then, he has undertaken the task of transitioning the vineyard to an organic and biodynamic production, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to conscious learning and meticulous care.

At the core of Julien’s work philosophy lies a concept he terms “lazy intelligence,” which embodies a strategic approach of undertaking the right actions at the opportune moments while minimising resource consumption. Drawing from his extensive experience, Julien adeptly employs this principle to achieve exceptional results. His efforts extend beyond the vineyard, as he actively collaborates with local restaurants and wine shops, sharing his passion for crafting exceptional wines and fostering a collective appreciation for his artistry.

Julien’s dedication to upholding sustainable practices and his commitment to producing exquisite wines epitomise his profound reverence for the craft. With a focus on harmonising tradition, innovation, and environmental consciousness, he continues to shape the viticultural landscape in his locality.
